Yes!!

Summer is just not as fun if you can't go swimming, so Ev has been anxiously awaiting the day the t-tubes come out of his ears. July 1 was D-day (or is it T-day?)! We drove down to Iowa City and while Marv and the kids swam at the hotel pool, Ev and I went to the hospital for a quick procedure. As you can tell from the pictures, Ev did fine! We checked in and waited for a while, then went through a pre-op visit which included a cool green gown and pants for Everett. When asked his age, Everett told the nurse that he was six, his Mom was 37 and his Dad was 40. TMI don't you think?

We moved in to the day of surgery waiting room where the anesthesiologist came and spoke to us both. She was great with Everett and let him try on the face mask while she explained things. I was pleased to have the chance to don scrubs and go back to the OR with Ev and stay with him until he was asleep. Thanks UIHC for having a wonderful approach to peds!

Ev slept for about 45 minutes after surgery, and then once he was awake, he wanted a drink, and then a popsicle. So we were then off to "recovery" where Ev had a fine time eating popsicles, graham crackers and vanilla ice cream while watching Nickelodeon. No problem with nausea! All in all, we spent about 5 1/2 hours at the hospital and we're so glad to have a healthy and happy boy!
