Picture Day!

Ahhhh the annual angst of picture day. Today is picture re-take day at school. Since we were in Arizona for the first picture day, we'll have our ONE AND ONLY shot at good pictures now. Not that there is any pressure. Not that you need to make Mom do a load of laundry late at night so you can wear your favorite shirt that has been residing at the bottom of the hamper. It's not like Dad needs to whip out the scissors and do a down and dirty trim so we can see those pretty blue eyes. Hopefully the hair looks all right and the smiles aren't too forced. Guess we'll see what we get in a few weeks when the packet comes home. Sigh...

I sent Ethan with a check on the first picture day, but he came home with it that night. Apparently, the teacher "forgot" to take the check at the time of the pictures, and by the time she took it to them at the end of the day they said, "Sorry, it's too late." So we have to do the retakes too. Bummer.

I feel your pain on so many levels! I spent hours last month shopping for my oldest to have something he liked to wear for the picture (the day before picture day). The next morning he woke up and decided he didn't want to wear what we'd bought, he wanted to wear his suit. Yikes! So off he went, in white shirt, tie, suit jacket, and denim shorts because it was around 90 degrees that day! Kids, ya gotta love 'em!

I have some winner elementary school pics. I especially like the one from 3rd grade, with a tiny pony-tail at the front of my head and a scratch on my face from the cat. My mom said I insisted on the hairdo. I'll have to scan that sucker in and post it on my blog sometime.
I say, even if they don't turn out great, they can be good for a laugh later in life.
