I just wanted to write a short note of thanks to my father, who is a veteran. It doesn’t seem like enough to say that I am grateful for his service to our country. Vietnam has never been something he discusses and much of the images in my mind are formed from faded photos, movies, and books. To me, the most striking image related to the Vietnam War is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, or the Wall. I haven't yet been to see it, but it’s on my list of places to go. I want to see the scar in the earth and trace my finger along the names in the wall. I want to honor those who fell, and carry in my heart a swelling gratitude that my father came home.
