Winter

The kids were giving me a hard time the other day as I was mumbling about the cold and bundling them up in jackets and gloves. They asked why I don't like winter. Rather than just unilaterally writing off a whole season, I've been thinking about the things I do like about winter:

  1. hats - these are great on the days your hair is not going so well
  2. angora socks
  3. the first snow
  4. ice crystals on the window catching the light and making little rainbows
  5. Christmas
  6. snuggling under the weight and warmth of several blankets on a cold night
  7. a brisk walk on a cold day - just enough to make your cheeks tingle from the cold air
  8. hot chocolate or a mug of herb tea are appropriate at any time

That's all I can think of right now. Seems like I should make it to ten, a la the Top Ten list, but I'm coming up short. What things do you like about winter?

Right now, I'm having a major tiff with winter. I can't think of anything...OK, OK, I do enjoy herbal tea and hot chocolate moments, but I do NOT enjoy going outside if there's even the slightest breeze. I also like the first snow. And let's see, I like watching from a warm house while Louie and the boys bundle up and play outside in the snow.
