The kids were giving me a hard time the other day as I was mumbling about the cold and bundling them up in jackets and gloves. They asked why I don't like winter. Rather than just unilaterally writing off a whole season, I've been thinking about the things I do like about winter:
That's all I can think of right now. Seems like I should make it to ten, a la the Top Ten list, but I'm coming up short. What things do you like about winter?
- hats - these are great on the days your hair is not going so well
- angora socks
- the first snow
- ice crystals on the window catching the light and making little rainbows
- Christmas
- snuggling under the weight and warmth of several blankets on a cold night
- a brisk walk on a cold day - just enough to make your cheeks tingle from the cold air
- hot chocolate or a mug of herb tea are appropriate at any time
