Party in D

Our piano, like many, is out of tune. Being out of tune is more irritating than anything else, and can easily be ignored. This ability to ignore the irritating things in life can be described as patience. However, the D key started sticking, and gradually stopped producing any sound at all. For those non-piano playing types, I'd like to point out that very little music in our repertoire omits this key. As a result, much moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth ensues when one of us sits down to play. In the hopes of maybe getting a new piano, and being the patient person that I am, (you in the back, quit snorting!), it's been a year. A year without D. Why is it that I can be so patient when it comes to the piano?
Today was the momentous and melodic occasion of piano tuning! In what has to be a stereotype somewhere, our piano tuner is blind. Luckily for us, this is a two man operation. His brother, the driver and piano repairman, also came along. I was told that our piano has a good sound, for a honky tonk bar. You know they loosen the strings a little for that type of music? Who knew that our piano had a history as one of those types of girls? Hanging out in smoke-filled, broken down bars, playing sad, honky tonk music?

Good thing she's decided to be more refined. At 82 years, I think she's a little too old for the bar scene.
